The YMCA of Greater Michiana is set to host its highly anticipated Week of Giving from March 10 to 15, inviting the community to experience the Y’s transformative programs through free classes, exclusive events, and special promotions at its four locations: Downtown South Bend, YMCA O’Brien Center, Niles-Buchanan, and Benton Harbor-St. Joseph. Funds raised during the Y’s Week of Giving will support these branches as well as programs like Camp Eberhart, helping to expand access and opportunities for all.

This initiative was designed to showcase the Y’s commitment to health and wellness while aiming to raise $5,000 per branch for its scholarship fund, ensuring accessibility for all.
“At the YMCA, we believe that everyone – regardless of age, income, or background – should have access to programs that promote health, wellness, and community,” said Mark Weber, CEO, YMCA of Greater Michiana. “Our scholarships ensure that financial barriers never stand in the way of a child learning to swim, a family staying active, or a senior finding connection.”
A Week of Free Fitness and Fun
Week of Giving is the perfect opportunity for individuals and families to explore the YMCA’s diverse offerings. Throughout the week, group fitness classes will be open to the public for FREE, including special Group Fitness Parties designed to energize and inspire participants.

Donations are welcome, with all proceeds supporting the Y’s scholarship fund. For a full schedule of group fitness classes, visit: ymcagm.org/schedules.

Bike Jail: Pedal with Purpose
On March 11, participants will be “locked in” on stationary bikes, and donations will determine whether their ride becomes harder or easier. Every dollar raised goes directly toward YMCA programs and scholarships.

YMCA of Greater Michiana’s Healthy Living Director, Crystal Jodarski (pictured right), rides every year during Week of Giving. Last year, Crystal was able to raise $200 just for a 90-minute ride, so it’s not hard to imagine the distance multiple riders will go toward meeting individual branch goals this year.
Camp Eberhart: Give & Grow
For over a century, the YMCA of Greater Michiana’s Camp Eberhart has been a place where campers of all ages embark on transformative journeys filled with adventure, leadership, and lifelong friendships.
Nestled along the scenic shores of Corey Lake, the cherished branch of the YMCA of Greater Michiana continues to inspire generations through its immersive outdoor experiences and community-building programs. Week of Giving is a crucial initiative that directly impacts the camp’s ability to continue its mission.

“A significant portion of Camp Eberhart’s fundraising is generated during this week,” said Jill Haboush, chief development officer, YMCA of Greater Michiana. “These funds help provide scholarships for campers who might not otherwise be able to attend and also support facility maintenance, program expansion, and the overall enhancement of the camp experience.”
Flexing Our Giving Muscles
“The YMCA isn’t just about fitness – it’s about fostering a spirit of community,” Weber added. “Whether you attend a free class, donate, or volunteer, your support strengthens the network of family, friends, and neighbors that rely on the Y. That’s the biggest flex – you are the muscle that helps the Y remain strong.”
