Thousands Set to Arrive This Week for Fastpitch Softball World Series

Games to be played throughout the region

More than 150 softball teams from across the Midwest will arrive in northwest Indiana to compete in the National Softball Association (NSA) Even & Odd North World Series – NW Indiana. Games will be played throughout the region at fields in Crown Point, Dyer, Schererville and LaPorte from July 16-21.

More than 6,000 participants & spectators are set to arrive beginning July 16. The South Shore CVA team has been hard at work planning fun-filled activities for participants and spectators during their stay.

The festivities begin on Tuesday, July 16 at 8:00 a.m. at the Crown Point Sportsplex where NSA will be hosting a Heavy Hitter’s Camp. Participants will have the chance to train alongside NCAA Softball World Series Champions Kinzie Hansen and Kierston Deal from the University of Oklahoma. Then Tuesday evening from 3:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. is the World Series Kick-Off which includes a skills competition, managers/coaches’ meetings, pin trading, DJ and vendors. This event also takes place at the Crown Point Sportsplex.

Games will begin on Wednesday, July 17 and Opening Ceremonies will take place at Bulldog Park on Thursday, July 18 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and includes a parade of teams, vendors, food trucks, beer garden, DJ, braid bar, henna, inflatables, games, photo booth, face-painting and more!

The estimated economic impact of hosting the NSA World Series is $9.5 million. “We expect our local restaurants and attractions around the fields and hotels to be bustling with traveling softball families,” said Phil Taillon, SSCVA President/CEO.  “Northwest Indiana and the SSCVA are proud to host these highly ranked and competitive teams.
