Business leaders and professionals from across the Michiana region gathered at Knollwood Country Club on Monday, June 10 for the South Bend Regional Chamber Golf Classic, sponsored by Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center (OSMC). This highly anticipated golf outing presented a unique opportunity for fostering new connections and entertaining clients in a relaxed and scenic environment.

As one of the largest golf events in the area, the Chamber Golf Classic attracted about 180 golfers. With many seasoned participants, as well as first-time attendees, it was the perfect occasion for networking.

Upon arrival, attendees were greeted with a continental breakfast, during which they had the opportunity to converse and begin connecting with others right away.

South Bend Regional Chamber President and CEO Jeff Rea was optimistic about the event's potential to strengthen professional relationships among chamber members.

“We're all about networking, so we want to connect our members with each other,” Rea said. “There’s a nice mix of longtime participants and newcomers. It’s a great opportunity to connect, say hello, and exchange business cards.”

While indulging in their breakfast, participants were presented with a bag of goodies from OSMC.

Daniel Gartee, CEO of OSMC, recognizes the importance of the Chamber Golf Classic for his company. As the event sponsor, OSMC aimed to highlight its services and create new connections with other business leaders.

“We're hosting this event to raise awareness about our orthopedic services and service lines,” said Gartee. “With a new location and Surgery Center in Granger, we're here to tell people about what we do and who we serve.”

Gartee emphasized the impact this event can have on the local business community because of potential collaborations.

“It provides an opportunity for small and large business owners in the community to come together, build relationships, and discuss how we can work together to bring more business to the area,” Gartee said.

Rea also believes that networking during this event can play a role in driving economic growth.

“Business thrives on connections,” said Rea. “We want to grow the businesses in our community, and one of the best ways to do that is by connecting them with others. Many people will meet for the first time today and then follow up tomorrow to discuss potential collaborations. We hope these introductions and connections will catalyze more business within our community.”

After breakfast, participants revved up their golf carts, ready to enjoy a beautiful day.

Blending business with pleasure, the Chamber Golf Classic not only provided a platform for creating professional connections but also offered a chance for attendees to enjoy a day of golf. Rea was enthused to be part of an event that would allow him to meet new people as well as reconnect with others.

“Getting to meet so many members is really exciting for me,” Rea said. “I love that this event provides a great chance to gather many of them in one place and simply visit in a casual setting, away from formal meetings, on the golf course.”
