South Bend Community School Corporation Introduces Summer Discovery Kitchen

The South Bend Community School Corporation is excited to announce the launch of the Summer Discovery Kitchen program in partnership with Chartwells K12. This initiative will provide free meals for children and teens ages 18 and under. 

The program will offer both breakfast and lunch from June 9 through August 1, 2025, ensuring that young community members have access to nutritious meals during the summer months.

2. Clay International Academy

Exciting Activities and Food Sampling

In addition to meals, themed activities will take place throughout the summer at various locations. Families can enjoy events filled with music, games, and food sampling, such as:

- June 18 at Muessel Grove: Musical chairs, water balloon toss, and samples of popcorn and popsicles.  

- June 25 at King Center: Relay races, chicken and waffles sliders, and pigs in a blanket.  

- July 2 at Howard Park: Pin the tail on the pony and cheeseburger sliders.  

- July 8 at O'Brien Pavilion: Freeze dance and pinwheel sandwiches.  

- July 16 at Potawatomi Park: Sticker station and pizza bagels.  

- July 23 at Kennedy Park: Musical chairs and chips with salsa or guacamole.

Introducing F.I.T.

As part of our commitment to promoting health and nutrition, we are also thrilled to introduce F.I.T. (Fueling, Instructing, and Training) in the upcoming school year. This program will feature culinary demonstrations and nutrition education to help students learn how to fuel their bodies for success.
