Notre Dame vs. Georgia: Sugar Bowl Showdown

Here’s your Notre Dame football update as we gear up for the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

After a thrilling 27-17 victory over Indiana, the Irish advance to face #2 Georgia in New Orleans on January 1st.

It’s a high-stakes rematch, with Georgia holding a 3-0 historical edge, including their last postseason clash in 1980—in the Sugar Bowl.

This season, the Irish have been electric.

Quarterback Riley Leonard and running back Jeremiyah Love tied an FBS record with 10 games featuring rushing touchdowns from both players. Leonard broke the school record for quarterback rushing touchdowns in a season, while Love crossed the 1,000-yard mark, averaging a phenomenal 7.4 yards per carry.

On defense, Xavier Watts has been the standout. He’s taken home the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and set a Notre Dame record with a 100-yard interception return against USC. Watts leads the FBS with 13 interceptions over the past two seasons—a true difference-maker.

And let’s give credit to head coach Marcus Freeman. In just his third season, Freeman has led the Irish to a 12-1 record and 12 wins against ranked teams—more than any Notre Dame coach in their first three years.

It’s all set for January 1st at 8:45 PM Eastern - Georgia vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl in the Superdome.

The winner will advance to the CFP semi-final at the Orange Bowl to face the winner the Fiesta Bowl, where Penn State will meet Boise State.
