Protecting individuals and organizations for more than a century is an impressive legacy in itself, but when you add to that a dedicated, multi-generational staff, that legacy is magnified. Meyers Glaros Group claims such a legacy, boasting many connections with families who have worked for the insurance company for multiple generations.
CEO Matt Glaros is a second-generation employee and President Jeff Meyers is a third-generation employee. While having a family connection to the business could certainly encourage him to work at the company, Meyers felt the decision was his own.
“I was never pressured to be in the insurance business from my family. I was given the opportunity to work at the agency and I fell in love with the industry and what it means to help and protect people,” Meyers said.
Meyers and Glaros found value in the company where they work through their firsthand experiences. They enjoy helping people by insuring them and educating them.
“Our job is to help people understand how insurance fits in their whole picture and protect some of their most valuable assets: their home, their business, and their health,” Glaros said.
Meyers Glaros Group explained the different kinds of insurance coverage and how insurance is not a one-size-fits-all investment. The plans that best benefit organizations and individuals differ both from each other and within themselves. Meyers Glaros Group helps customers better understand the nuances of insurance and walks them through which option will work best for their finances, possessions, businesses, and lifestyles.
“Everyone has their unique challenges. Individuals are obviously cost-conscious. They want to know they are protected and have good products. The reality is they hope they never have to use their insurance. When something does happen, they want to know they paid for a good product and have someone there to guide them through those unforeseen accidents,” Meyers said.
Meyers continued, “On the business side if you combine your health insurance and your property insurance, it is usually the business owner’s highest expense next to their payroll. They have to be cost-conscious about that, but at the same time, they have to care about what they are giving their employees from the insurance side of things. It is a delicate balancing act of providing great benefits, but also being cost-conscious to the bottom line.”
While helping individuals and businesses find the right insurance plans can prove to be a challenge, Glaros is passionate about making sure their customers keep themselves and their assets safe. He believes that while some people hesitate to get insured, no one who is insured regrets doing so.
“I think it’s very hard to find someone who has had a major loss say ‘That insurance I bought that paid me back for all the stuff I had was a really bad use of my money for the previous 10 years that I had it.’ You don’t plan on buying insurance to use it, but when you need it, you want to make sure have the right insurance,” Glaros said.
Meyers Glaros Group has established partnerships with multiple organizations to better insure their customers. Glaros notes his respect for the positive relationship the company has with UnitedHealthcare. “We’ve worked with UnitedHealthcare ever since we had the ability to sell their products, which has been probably 25-30 plus years. They are an integral part of our business. We partner with a lot of carriers and a lot of them are very good, but I would say UnitedHealthcare has really stepped up and become a true partner to our agency and the region as a whole,” Glaros said. “I trust that UnitedHealthcare does the right thing. It may not be the right thing for them, but the right thing for the member. They think about the member before they think about themselves, which is rare.”
