Indiana University South Bend Chancellor Susan Elrod has joined the Campus Compact board of directors.
Campus Compact is a national nonprofit organization that supports, engages, and challenges higher education to realize its public purpose. Member campuses make up a coalition of thousands of presidents, faculty, researchers, students, and civic and community engagement experts.
“I am excited to offer my experience and insight as we work together across our nation to serve as responsive and transformative agents of change,” Elrod said.
She said regional public universities (RPUs) like IU South Bend serve as anchor institutions and are indispensable to the health and vibrancy of their communities.
“Imagine what our community would be like without IU South Bend. RPUs are engines of economic and community development, providing opportunities for social mobility and much needed talent for industry, community organizations, and government.”
As a member of the board of directors, Chancellor Elrod will provide leadership and expertise as Campus Compact pursues its mission and new strategic plan.
“We are so grateful for the stewardship of our board of directors at a time when the role of higher education in furthering community wellbeing has never been more critical,” said Campus Compact President Bobbie Laur.
