IT professionals representing businesses, nonprofits, schools, and other organizations across Northwest Indiana gathered on Thursday morning for Chester IT’s Business Before Hours Sunrise Session Breakfast. Chester, joined by Datto, Inc., presented an exclusive seminar, “Protecting Your Assets in a Secure, Multi-Cloud Environment,” which highlighted the importance of strengthening your cloud resilience and protecting your data.
More and more businesses are moving their workloads to the cloud. Tools like Microsoft Azure or Google Workspace are no longer used for simply sending emails or storing a few files – entire infrastructures are locked into the cloud environment. Chester, Inc Information Technologies, as an IT solutions provider, works with Datto to provide those organizations with IT managed services – including comprehensive cloud data backup and security products that protect against damaging losses, attacks, or costly downtime.
“We think this is really important especially as the pandemic accelerated a lot of our clients towards moving into the cloud,” said Chris Kotul, managing director of Chester IT. “They’re working to adopt these technologies faster than they may have originally been comfortable with, so we want to help them adapt, and educate everybody on what’s important to know in a cloud environment.”
There are a wide variety of risks to your organization’s data. Chester polled the gathered IT professionals who highlighted ransomware attacks as their largest concern. They can indeed be devastating, but the most common challenge is far more innocuous, accidental deletions. Chester and Datto stressed that the most important thing for any business is to ensure they have constant, accurate cloud backups.
“You can pay the price after an incident, or you can mitigate the risk before it happens,” said Kacper Piwowar, senior manager for Azure product sales at Datto Inc. “That’s why we have our products setup the way they are, with hourly backups, so that customers can be protected before disaster strikes rather than struggle to recover after it’s already happened.”
Chester opted to host the seminar as a breakfast meeting to let people pop-in, eat, learn, and get back to the rest of their day.
“We’re really excited, it’s good to be back doing seminars instead of being relegated to webinars,” said Rich Shields, director, marketing & business development at Chester Inc. “We’re really pleased with the excitement people are showing about the event, there’s a lot of excitement about the evolving SaaS products and cloud-based solutions there are to implement in their IT infrastructures.”
Some professionals in attendance had already recruited Datto and Chester for their cloud services.
“We’re already in the process of implementing Datto for our backup services,” said Dan Gin, IT director for the Town of Schererville. “One of the big challenges these days is finding a service that offers both on-site and off-site built into it without having multiple layers of software that we’d need to integrate. Datto are bringing everything together in one package, and we’re looking forward to having Chester implement this for us.”
