Chester Inc. breaks ground on new Northwest Indiana Eye & Laser office

On Monday morning, Chester Inc. broke ground on a new building for one of Valparaiso’s most respected healthcare institutions, Northwest Indiana Eye & Laser Center. The new location promises to help expand and improve founder Dr. Scott Buck, M.D., and his team’s ability to provide timely, expert optometry services.

Located in the Eastport Centre Business Park, the office is set to be 15,000 square feet, just over three times bigger than Northwest Indiana Eye & Laser Center’s previous building. Buck joined members of his team and Chester Inc. in celebrating the first day of construction.

“The ability to expand and move the practice forward is exciting, and it’s a fun opportunity to build a new building here in Valpo,” Buck said. “It’s going to give our patients better access, help us grow more and recruit more doctors so that we can bring even more providers to the community.”

Buck trusted Chester Inc. to help him with his new building because of the quality of their work, especially on similar projects. They are also different than many other firms because they handle everything in-house, from planning, architecture, design and construction. A one stop shop that reduces the need for multiple contracts with architects, engineers, contractors and construction managers.

“We worked with Dr. Buck on the concept from the ground up,” said Adam Peuquet, Executive Vice President at Chester Inc. “We help him get exactly what he wants all in one place, from design, build, and financing. We’re a one-stop shop and help people like Dr. Buck get what they need and save a lot of time.”

Chester Inc. works on a wide variety of projects, from multi-faceted developments to Industrial – but the chance to help improve Valparaiso’s healthcare options is a particularly exciting opportunity according to Rich Shields, Chester Inc.’s Director of Marketing and Business Development.

“These kinds of projects are very important to us,” he said. “Everyone in the community will utilize these services at some point. It’s really exciting and humbling to be a part of that and assist in making these services available locally. It’s great that Dr. Buck put his trust in Chester Inc., and we’re really grateful to he and his staff for giving us the chance to help them grow.”

Valparaiso Mayor Matt Murphy also stopped by the groundbreaking ceremony to offer Buck his congratulations.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that the Bucks are investing in Eastport Centre with this great project and beautiful building,” he said. “It’s a great business park here, and this is kind of bittersweet because this is the last lot. It’s a gem with great business and a lot of great jobs that support not just Valparaiso, but all of Northwest Indiana.”

The groundbreaking ceremony signals the start of a long road of work. The team at Chester Inc. are hoping to finish the new Northwest Indiana Eye & Laser Center sometime between nine to 12 months from now.

“We’re super excited to be out here today,” Peuquet said. “It’s always nice to see local businesses continuing to grow.”
