A student’s academic journey can have a ripple effect on the rest of their life, so choosing an education path that puts students first is the first step to success. The Career Academy Network of Public Schools (CANOPS) combines classroom learning with real-world experience to create graduates ready to tackle the future.
CANOPS constitutes five schools throughout Michiana: Career Academy High School, Portage School of Leaders High School, Career Academy Middle School, Success Academy at Ardmore Trail, and Success Academy at Boys & Girls Club in South Bend. Founded with the principle of putting students first and embracing innovation, CANOPS utilizes a highly qualified team of educators teaching a cutting-edge curriculum to set students up for success.
The CANOPS approach begins before students are even in the classroom with the creation of a personalized learning plan meant to cater to each individual’s strengths and support weaknesses. In class, students will be given a multidisciplinary education covering topics in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), the humanities, and the arts to develop transferable skills for the real world. The curriculum at a CANOPS school is project-based, so every student will be able to see the application of their learning.
CANOPS also encourages real-world learning experiences in the forms of internships, mentorships, and collaborations with community partners. CANOPS is able to offer resources that many educators simply cannot, including access to robust extracurriculars, a hydroponic farm, and an award-winning music and arts program.
While the education at a CANOPS school is top-of-the-line and taught by dedicated and passionate teachers, the unique approach to learning also fosters a community that welcomes everyone. Additionally, when students struggle, they’ll be given support in the form of teacher attention thanks to intentionally small class sizes.
Students experiencing increased stress, anxiety, or any other mental health obstacle can visit an on-site counselor to develop systems for handling adverse mental health. CANOPS schools have a zero-tolerance policy on bullying and above-and-beyond safety measures that help students feel safe, welcomed, and included throughout their education.
All of this culminates in an educational journey that inspires a love of learning and fosters the natural curiosity of all students, creating the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders. No matter where a student’s interest lies, CANOPS will help to foster an education bound for success. The Career Academy Network of Public Schools is a collection of no-tuition public charter schools within Michiana that provide an inclusive and dynamic educational environment where students can achieve their full potential at all grade levels.
