Modernizing the health system is a fundamental priority for UnitedHealthcare and is essential to create access to care for the communities we serve. To help promote the future of health care, 10 rising startups will be given close mentorship from UnitedHealthcare executives and subject matter experts from across the industry.
The four-month mentorship-driven UnitedHealthcare Accelerator began on Aug. 15. This iteration of the program will take a hybrid approach, with six weeks of in-person support in Minneapolis. Of the companies participating, 70% are led by founders who identify as women or BIPOC.
Last year’s program included technology companies enabling value-based care for providers in underserved communities, providing access to doula care through a virtual platform and improving quality of life and independence for people with cognitive disabilities.
“Now in our fourth year, the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator continues to prove itself as a valuable tool helping us solution for some of the most pressing challenges in health care,” said Kaylene Thompson, vice president of innovation at UnitedHealthcare. “We've built an amazing community of startups, mentors and leaders with diverse perspectives and experiences that enable the companies to flourish.
